The Varsity Club's third annual Joe Coty Jr. Memorial Scholarship was presented to Antonio Rosser, a college student who perseveres in his computer-science studies despite Asperger's syndrome. The award was presented at the club's Student Athletic Awards Dinner at the Staaten, West Brighton in June.
The Varsity Club inaugurated this first non-athletic award in 2011, in memory of Joe Coty Jr., a long-serving and beloved club member challenged by autism, who passed away in 2010 at age of 42. The scholarship is a cash award given to a young adult who is highly motivated to achieve his or her goals, despite intellectual, emotional, or developmental challenges. The scholarship must be put towards the recipient's future education or other living/working expenses
